Fundraising Success!

Yesterday, Ben, Becky, Mike and Anne spent from noon until 7pm asking Sunday shoppers for canned good donations at Geissler Bloomfield. Warren showed us how it was done from noon until about 3-ish. It was a very successful afternoon! We raised about 800 cans (averaging over 100 cans an hour!) and got a $50 gift certificate from the store manager!

Our goal is to raise a total of 2,000, so we need all the help we can get. It would be perfect if we could get another team out next Sunday, starting at 11:00 a.m. (to catch more of the church crowd).

Rendering of Design idea

Does any one have any comments on this? I still may add in the water slide on the left edge. Any color changes? Do the tents need to be bigger? It's hard to tell but the cans on the ferris wheel stick out from the wall by an inch. I colored the wheel because it looked confusing in white, with white clouds around it. That may be an easy problem to solve using real cans.
I may color the top layer of the roller coaster to make the path of the "track" stick out more.

Hey all, at our last meeting we discussed some of the options for the backdrops as well as experimenting with some color patterns for the tent (see above)

a plan for the carnival

We sketched out this plan for the carnival the other week: it's got the ferris wheel, the roller coaster, the big top, the can-drop and a carousel (which will involve props, but so be it). Please post comments!

FYI re: permission to view this site

Hi guys,

For the moment, I am allowing only authors to view the site, which means that everyone on the team (once invited to be an author) will have the ability to post articles and comments, as well as read the contents of the site, but no one else. I thought that this would be helpful to maintain some privacy in our design development. However, if any of you think it would be better to just make the blog public, I can do that really easily, so let me know.

Welcome to the CArNIVAL!

Like I promised, I've started the CArNIVAL blog. If I've sent you an invitation to be an author on this blog, please sign up and sign in, and you should be able to write your own posts to the blog as well as comment on other people's postings.

Here's a link to "Fair" in Wikipedia for starting ideas ("carnival" didn't have useful pictures): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair.

This is the London Eye page on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Eye

This has a great video of the view from the London Eye that I mentioned today: http://www.bbc.co.uk/london/content/panoramas/londoneye4_360.shtml
